It's been so long since I did a RAPTOR program...I had a lull of about three weeks. I spoke to a class at a private school today and they were just perfect kids. Smart, quiet...
I was pleased to see a new Port-A-Let at RAPTOR:
Why is this a big deal? Well, because we didn't have "facilities" before. The house on the property of course has a bathroom for the tenants, but we don't use it. Who wants strangers using your bathroom? So you either had to go pick a tree or drive up to the golf course. Now, it's not like we spend all day at RAPTOR, more like an hour here or there. But one of our rehabbers asked if she could just get a Port-A-Let and so now everyone's happy.
It's new, so it was quite refreshing in there today. Marilyn added a vase of flowers, giving it a nice homey touch.
A robin has a nest right above one of the mews...hope none of those chicks fall out of the nest!
No-No the barn owl is officially a program bird now....as he has had his left wing partially amputated:
He still shakes his head back and forth, but the mantling is one-sided now.
The left wing was removed at the wrist, but he keeps it close to his body.
I cannot wait to start training him. I wonder if unearthly screams will become part of my program?

Ahhh...No No! He is a favorite in this house. My girls ALWAYS talk about him.
How are the girlie girls?
No No is just so cute.....I can't WAIT to get my hands on him!
Isabelle is barf-free and went back to school today.
Lorelei is the same old fashionista she always is.
: )
Susan, we have indoor plumbing in Alaska. :)
Dave:
That's some high-falutin' stuff there.
You smart a**.
: )
That's why a new center is in order....and being planned right now.
Glad you have one o' them fancy outhouses now!
And, ooooooo, a barn owl. They are such amazing birds! Lucky you!
It's nice to see all those little green leaves in the woods behind your new "water closet."
The barn owl is beautiful even with only one wing. Will he have a more difficult time getting around with only 1 wing, or do they eventually adapt to the handicap?
Unearthly scream is right! Aaack! No-No is a beautiful bird, regardless of his wing.
I'm so glad you have a porta-pot now. Gives peace of mind.
Will the new center have a two seater. Stop me please!
Think of what Birdchick might have missed had she used a portajohn instead of squatting in the forest.
Just a thought.
Trying to picture a vase of flowers in a port-a-potty! LOL Somebody alert the people at Better Homes and Gardens!
