Speaking of swallows:
I managed to get over to RAPTOR to drop off a butt-load of perches I had left in my car. As I was pulling out of the driveway, I saw this bird:

Well, hello there, little Northern Rough-Winged Swallow. What are you up to?

Oooo....gathering sticks and mud?

A-ha. Building a nest under the covered bridge? Good choice.

And back out again.
I watched them do this over and over again. Birds are nothing if not industrious.
These holes are old drainage thingies, and I guess the birds know what they are doing. Let's hope Mill Creek doesn't flood again any time soon. The nest site is about 5 feet above the water.
