Big Red

A male cardinal visited my car today, while I was in it...
I thought he was just showing territory aggression, but after observing him for a while, I wonder if he was just in love with my car.

Very little crest-raising, very little battling the mirror image...

He spent a lot of time at the corner of the windshield, and made motions like he was drinking.
Looking for liquid water?

Interestingly, he occasionally tapped on the glass, then preened that bald spot on his chest.
He did this multiple times.
OCD?

It's SO obvious: He wants you. He's The Continental: "Don't go! Would you like some more champahnyah?"

I'm with Dawn. That bird is sick and tired of cold and snow. He wanted in.

I love your pics.

Love this post Susan! How long did he hang around on your vehicle?
In the last pic before the video, it looks like he could be saying, "you want me too baby, doncha?"

He wasn't attracted by the sexy red car, he was attracted to the sexy redhead INSIDE the car! Yet another conquest for you, Susan.

He sure liked your car! How did you keep from laughing while you were filming the video? Wow, you guys have alot of snow. It has been dry here in old Colorado (at least my part of town)!

I loved the video and photographs. Amazing that you can just sit in your car and attract the birds.

I would have been laughing so hard, the video would look like we were in an earthquake! Congrats on your self control!

It's a sure sign that spring is drawing closer when the cardinals start doing their territorial defense against that other male reflected in your window and mirror - or just falling in love with whatever is around! Nice photos!

Did you do anything special to attract him? I can't figure out how to get birds into my backyard and you have birds saying hello to you in the dead of winter. It's not fair! I guess I'll have to go out and get some feeders. Has anyone tried this one? http://www.birdfeeders.com/store/hummingbird-feeders/b122tf
