I truly wish I could be more hopeful. But I was so sorely stung last election that I don't want to get my hopes up. I will, however, make contributions and put a bumper sticker on my car. And I'll vote.
I'm so concerned about single-issue voters who are blind to everything else. We have a lot of mountain folks who don't do a thing to help unwed mothers or their babies, who regularly beat the crap out of their own kids, who give nothing to local charities that help underprivileged children, but who proudly proclaim themselves to be "pro-life" and "defenders of the pre-born."
The neocons have come way too far to let their dream go that easy - they have us where they want us. It will be rough going ahead no matter the outcome.
I'm glad someone has hope. I am getting jaded, or perhaps wiser in my old age. I just see a lot of promises with very little chance of follow-through. I doubt very much whether any substantial changes will actually come about in my lifetime.

Amen sister.
Oh, you mean you're watching your daughters?!

~Kathi, already weary of the campaign
All:
Let's keep our hope up. This joint CAN change, if we work at it.
Kathi: When did you get so curmudgeon-ly?
