It's not a fun post, but maybe we can find some hope at the end

My day of Nature Therapy turned into a 5 hour whine fest (Lorelei) and a most jarring lack of good photos of the birds I actually saw.
This set of trees is a good visualization of how I feel...

Down.
Lorelei was excited at first, to have Mommy all to herself today. But since she is 3 going on 15, every time she asked for something I wasn't going to give her, the bitching and tantrum-throwing revved up.
I did see a pileated woodpecker briefly at the Cincinnati Nature Center. That was nice.
At Kelley's Nature Preserve, I sought out the barred owl I spotted earlier this year. It flew out from a tree that I had been standing under, as I was trying to find it off in the distance near a pine stand. So yeah, I found it, but didn't get a picture. Dammit.
I can't even think of anything funny to say. I guess even goofball bloggers are allowed to be blue every now and then. I think that it's a hodge-podge of things...post-Cape May let down, being busier than ever, juggling kids and battling a cold, RAPTOR, financial worries (they are always there, aren't they?) and a real healthy dose of PMS.
Add all that up and you have a soggy Susan.
But I have a day off tomorrow (besides dropping off my car for new brakes) so I hope to get out there ALONE and breathe deeply and not hear any whining (unless I want to whine at myself).
Sigh. One bright spot in my day was this:
The color of our maples in the backyard. Where the sun touches them, they are fiery orange. But in the shade, they are HOT PINK.

That's something to make a person feel better, right?
Please comment and tell me to snap the Hell out of it.

Snap out of it Susan! It's the time change.. I'm convinced of it myself. Sorry you're feeling soggy.

Alright, girly! Get away from the whiny kiddos. Breathe. This, too, shall pass.

Snap out of it. You could have been at my house. Home sick and feeling awful, sure. But, blissfully alone except for your beloved dog. WHO PEED IN YOUR BED JUST BEFORE YOU LAY DOWN FOR A NAP!

Spent the whole day sleeping on the couch and doing laundry so I could sleep in a pee-free bed. Unbelievable.

Those trees are beautiful!

Good morning soggy Susan. I'm sure you have snapped out of it by now! If not, WHACK!

I think Laura is right - it's the time change, shorter days. I've been going to bed at 9:30 pm all week because I need extra sleep to be able to work hard at the office. It's a bummer, especially since I don't spend an extra hour at night visiting BLOGS!

A few hours without a whiner is what you need. And go read Laura's lovely post.

All right whiny girl you asked for it...SNAP OUT OF IT!!! You will be just fine if you get out for a brisk, I mean BRISK walk ALONE. Get rid of those cobwebs that are all stuck up with woes and build a lovely cob web catching only calm lovely sunlight shining through the dewy thoughts of being out alone. Breathe.

Susan
A day with a frustrated child (whatever their age) is enough to make any parent soggy
Hope a day on your own is all you need -
Here comes some virtual sympathy :) (((Hug)))

I hope your day alone will make you feel one thousand times better today, Susan! If not, snap out of it girlfriend! (Must be something in the air yesterday, I had a lousy day, too).
