You ever have days that make you actually glad that you exist?
I have found that nature walks with one kid are much easier than with two. Since Lorelei only goes to school two days a week, I get her all to myself the rest of the week. We went to Miami Whitewater Forest today, and even though the bird action was lacking (a few catbirds, vultures, goldfinches) we did see plenty of color:

The creek that runs through the park is so low, it defies belief. There's enough water for fish, albeit small ones.

Another flower than made me almost fall over. My wildflower ID website isn't working, so I am forced to crawl through the Web looking for names.

The trail we walked today was 1.2 miles. And here is what happens to a 3 1/2 year old when you make them walk 1.2 miles:

I love it when you take me along on your adventures. I hope someone pipes up with flower id's. I'll hve to check back. Did you see the BEAUTIFUL turkey vulture over at Katdoc's blog!??
Your blue flower is a Dayflower. Don't know your first purple flower, but I think (emphasis think) the second is a Lobelia.
Maybe that *fuzzy* pic is the common mullein too? I think they only bloom every other year.
That is one sacked out girl. I think I have seen that posture somewhere before....hmmmm....
What kind of pup is Hooper? We have a western Alaska town named Hooper Bay that has a few dogs that sort of look like Hooper.
When I first read Trixie's comment, I thought she was saying that Hooper Alaska was "...a few dogs short...."
I was concerned that perhaps your Hooper was the long-lost Howling Hound of Hooper.
I thought the first flower looks like Spider Wort - but I'm no plant expert, for sure!
I'm hoping to get out soon, too. Our skies are bright blue but what we crave is dark gray... Great day, Susan! Some days really have the "Wow" factor. Hooper is so pretty and I like Lorelei's photo - she's recharging her battery for more action.

Spicebush Swallowtail!!!
I have seen it in my backyard one time. I just planted ten Spicebushes for host plants. I do think they are ever so elegant.
