Turns out that I didn't lose my pictures after all. The memory card got knocked loose and the pictures have been there the whole time.
The dead snake pic...Mom found this snake out by the road. As far as I can tell, it was a fox snake. I picked it up before I even realized it was dead. If Julie can pick up live copperheads, I can handle a little dead fox snake. This frog from Mom's pond was so cold, he was flaccid. I could only tell HE was ALIVE because he blinked once.
Yesterday I did a program for a local conservation group. We were out in a field in the blinding sun for 2 1/2 hours, which gave me a huge migraine (hence no blogging last night).

This is our (girl, boy?) great horned owl. She-he was a big hit, as always.
American kestrel, red screech owl, great horned owl
But the flock was enjoying all the wild grape that grows on just about every tree on Mom's property...all 14 acres of it.

Susan,
Glad the camera is ok. Good owl photo. It looks stuffed. Please don't let anyone know I let a lucid comment.
OK, in the middle of the night after you blogged about losing your photos, I was wondering how photos could be lost due to a camera drop. So glad you didn't lose them! I *love* the owl photo - what a beautiful bird!
I just read your comment on Julie's website - what is the URI to the blog that has Chet Baker photos as a puppy? I'd love to see his puppy photos!
Glad you got your pics back - they're great!
Is the camera okay?
Aren't Kestrels cool? They are a little wildman in living color.
Nice pictures! That GHO looks stuffed! Where's Earl?
There's something silly in blogger tonight- your word verification is "voxrox"! HAHAHA!!
LauraH's word verification was "eggnar"!!! HAHA!!
(I worked nights last night and am running on very little sleep- everything seems hilarious to me!)
:)
Lynne: Those ARE funny! "Voxrox" and "Eggnar" sound like characters in a really bad sci-fi movie.
Le -Go My Eggnar!!
I do NOT appreciate you making fun of my friend's and my name.
I thought *I* was the only one who had the urge to report on what the word verification requests were on blogs! :)
Love the photos. I can't believe you are passing of pictures of house sparrows as Cedar Waxwings though -- sheesh! Clearly they are White-Crowned Sparrows. :) :) :)

I just love that you have a sense of humor.
