Today is our 6 year anniversary. On September 9, 2000, I did the smartest thing I've ever done and married Geoff Williams. Just one year later, and pregnant with Isabelle, we experienced 9/11 together. And today, it was fitting that we saw World Trade Center. It's a movie that reminds you of how that day felt. The fear, the anger, the thought that the world was coming to an end. I remember being so angry that our first child would be born into a world where lunatics could murder 3,000 people in the blink of an eye.
But let's move on to better, brighter things. This is Sydney, the dog from the next street over. She likes to escape her yard and comes right to our door, walks in and makes herself at home. She's a real sweetie, but I wish her owners gave a damn about her. When we call to tell them that we have her (we exchanged phone numbers, it happens so often) most of the time, they don't know she's gone. I wouldn't mind keeping her, but Geoff's eye starts to twitch when I say that.
After the movie and dinner, Geoff and I went for a hike at my new favorite place, the Cincinnati Nature Center.

(View from one of the bird blinds)
Deer at the entrance to the Center
One seriously big ass frog in one of the new wetlands managed by the center.
It got dark so fast, I was wondering if we would be able to get back to the car in time.
Birds seen or heard:
Pileated woodpecker
Chickadees
Cardinals
Green heron
Hybrid mallards
Carolina wrens
I loved walking through the woods with my husband. The girls are having a sleepover at the in-laws, so it was just us today and tonight. Yet, even as we sighed about how nice it was to be unencumbered by two weighty kids, we still missed them.
And tonight, we will try and remember how we made those kids in the first place.

Happy anniversary to two of my favorite cousins! Love to both of you.
Aww, happy anniversary!
Won't keep you... get remembering how you made them kids!
Happy Anniversary!
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone, and, honey, regarding your last comment, um... maybe a little TMI (too much information)?
After thinking about all of the first-person articles I've written in national publications, divulging plenty of TMI, I have to admit, before anyone else calls me on this, I'm probably the last person who should be saying that my wife offers too much information.
Happy anniversary! Doesn't seem like six years. We'll have our 2nd next week.
Best wishes for many more happy years together!!
Happy Anniversay. Love you both!!
Happy Anniversary.
Wow, I'm dying to know what comment you deleted! Perhaps more TMI??
xoxoxoxoxo
Cathy: I wish it was juicier, but it was just a duplicate comment left by your goofy sister.
Happy Anniversary, a little late! Smart of you to stay home where you can't get evicted.
