After a routine vet visit with Nellie, we all went to RAPTOR since we were so close. The girls had never been there (Isabelle has seen a program, but not the actual RAPTOR barn).
We left Nellie in the car, since dogs and birds don't mix.
The RAPTOR facility is located next to a really cool, old covered bridge. The house and land used to be a park ranger's station for Hamilton County Parks back in the day.
There is a historical marker by the bridge that I will have to slow down for and read someday.
I introduced the girls to a few of the program birds by letting them peek through the doors of the mews. I was not about to let them go into the mews and run amok.
I had to add that last part because I know that Cindy and Marc read my blog, and I don't want them to get the vapors. :-)
As we were leaving, the resident pileated woodpecker called out and flew over our heads.
Oh, yeah!

What did the girls think of their peek at the big scary raptors?
