Looks like it's going to be three bluebird babies. The fourth egg was taken away by the parents at some point today...they knew something I didn't, I guess.
So stay tuned for many, many pictures of the developing chicks.
Corn-gratulations on your new babies! Wonder what happened to egg No. 4? Dying in the shell while pipping happens, but it's pretty rare--I think I've seen it once. Nobody deserves bluebirds more. Enjoy them! and keep photographing them. I love the plants you're selecting for your yard, too. I'm an unabashed exotic lover, but thee are a lot of natives sprinkled in, too. My garden looks like a monkey planted it. I admire your resolve to stay native. Never gonna happen on Indigo Hill! Too fond of my crazy tropicals. Hey, nice Cheeto. It looks like Mr. Natural to me.
Julie: I love exotics, also, and I can't help but buy SOME when I go to the nursery. But I was inspired last year by 1. Getting our yard certified by the NWF, and 2. a book called Suburban Safari by Hannah Holmes. Any plants that feed birds are welcome here. Thanks for commenting! I am honored... blush....
