The marsh is already a success

I went out this morning to check on the big muddy hole I made and was happy to see a perfect little raccoon footprint in the mud. Score one for the marsh.
And I noticed LOTS of flying insects hovering above it and some water skimmers on the surface. Score two points for the marsh.
Frogs and birds, come and get it...soup's on!

Just curious: How will you prevent mosquitos from breeding? that's a real concern for us here because of the west nile virus.

Nature takes care of that for us...we have oodles and oodles of dragonflies. I'm not sure why we have so many, but they're quite abundant. And there's always the bug-eating birds. That was the whole reason for the marsh. To feed the critters. YUMMY!

right, I did't even think of that! here they tell people not to "let water sit" or if it is to have it be moving. But, that water is cleaner, like fountains on your patio or whatever. Probably in your case the frogs will eat them all up.
