Meet the Flockers

(I know...that's a really bad pun.)

These are our new parakeets. My mother and my in-laws are choking right now...hear them?

Why would we do this? When we have 2 kids, 1 dog, 4 cats, 1 rat, 4 fish, 1 snail and 5 caterpillars? Well, I don't have a simple answer for that.

Yes, I do. Geoff made me do it.

Good plan. Blame the husband.

Do the flockers have names?

Isabelle has named the girl "Lollipop" and the boy has yet to be named.
I think I will post another naming contest...

Choke,...Gasp,...Arrrgggh...Oh, what a day. First I have to go with Rita to see the "Diana" exhibit at the Dayton Art Institute. I manage to avoid swooning at the exhibit of Princess Diana's wedding dress with it's 30 ft train. Now, I shall surely get the vapors: a blog posting that most assuredly confirms that my eldest son has, to use the clinical term, gone 'round the bend!

First of all, trying to stop Susan from doing something is like stepping in front of a train and holding an open umbrella in front of you, and hoping that that will successfully block its path and shield you from harm. I fought the good fight for over five years of our marriage, and suddenly, I guess, I was weary and weakened. After the passing of Susan's beloved Huey (notice, I didn't say our beloved Huey, though as far as rats go, he was nice), we had two cages, one perfect for one rat (Penny) and one perfect for two parakeets... and, well, again, I weakened. But to say I made Susan do this isn't quite how I remember it. I think I said something remotely positive about the idea of getting a parakeet, like, "Well, maybe someday," and the next thing I know, I'm drugged and tied up in a closet and listening to the car motor leave the driveway as my wife and girls go to a pet store. (OK, maybe it didn't exactly happen that way either, but close enough, and it's more believeable than Susan's story.)
