Next thing they will end up doing is take away my birthday and Christmas

I have been forced by my fellow birders to retract my Lark Sparrow ID.
Kathi and other Cincy birders have brought to my attention that this is either a Song or Savannah sparrow. They are threatening to take away my Birder License and possibly bring down capital punishment...they mentioned something about wet noodles.

So I am left empty. A shell of a woman. Hopeless. Friendless. A birder without a clue.

But you watch. Cape May, NJ will be rocking with my raptor IDs.

I may never hazard a guess regarding sparrows ever again.

No, no - we don't take away your Birder's License for mis-IDing a sparrow. Instead, we make you sit for hours and hours looking at Little Brown Birds till your eyes fuzz over.

Don't take it hard, Susan. Sparrows are tough. At least you didn't do what I did Sunday, which was call yet ANOTHER Red-shouldered Hawk a Cooper's Hawk. I can't COUNT the number of times I have done that. I don't know why I have such a mental block on Red-shouldereds.

After (many) years, I am finally getting a handle on sparrows. But, try me on shorebirds or gulls - I am completely hopeless there.

~Kathi, who is boiling noodles right now

Kathi is boiling the noodles! HA!

Hey, Susan, have you noticed that I don't even attempt to ID little brown jobs on my blog anymore? I have a way of getting around it by referring to it as, "pretty little bird". I've been doing this for months. Then, I screwed up with a juvenile male cardinal...

You crack me UP.

If the birds would only hold the same pose as in the books and never go "out" without appropriate plumage--none of these juvenile outfits.....wouldn't that take all the fun out of it?!

Judging from your subject heading, does this mean I don't have to buy you any Christmas or birthday gifts? Oh, yeah!

Judging by Geoff's comments, he may soon be sleeping on the couch.

Lynne:
Yeah, you better watch it. Or I will keep every raptor I see to myself.

Kathi:
Tell you what: I will help you with raptor ID's if you help me with sparrows. Deal?

Mary dear:
I think I will be following your lead. I don't like to be embarrassed. Especially publicly.

Nina:
Yes, the fun would be gone. But so would the hair-pulling insanity.

Cheap Husband:
Yeah, right. You think you can get away with that? I'd like to see you try.

Anon:
Yep, I am throwing a pillow and blanket out the back door right now.

Pam:
I know. But I really feel stupid.

I checked in too early. I forgot, it's not midnight. Susan hasn't posted yet... Good night.
