TA DA

Reality is a weird thing.
Geoff has been thinking/planning/dreaming/writing this book for 10 years.
And today, we got the first copies:

Geoff's book 1

Geoff's book 2
A real book, with a real cover, and real words, on real paper.
I took about 20 pictures of it.
Look out world! Here comes Geoff!

Yesterday was the reunion for Geoff's Italiano side.
And though the 'original' generation are small, dark-haired women who cook pasta, I have noticed that the newest generation is decidedly blonder.
Lorelei and little cousin
Rachel brought an egg that was passed on to her from a client at her vet's office.
As far as I can tell, it's probably a Cooper's hawk egg. The pictures didn't capture the true color of the egg...more of a putty/very very pale green color, with very faint brownish spots.
Coop egg

Coop egg 2

Something is eating my sunflower leaves....
Bugs on my sunflowers

2007's first sunflower
And speaking of sunflowers: 2007's first sunflower at Williams Manor. And it's 8 feet tall.

Regarding yesterday's post about the mystery "crying baby" call....anyone have an opinion about a blue jay or mockingbird doing an excellent imitation of a baby?

A quiz:
Which of these things doesn't belong?
Which one of these doesn't belong

Congrats to the newly published author and his family! That must be so neat for you all.

Can we get a hint on the quiz?

Thanks for the egg ID, those pictures turned out pretty good. That baby crying call was pretty creepy!

Congrats on the published author! I can't even imagine how amazing that must feel!

As for the crying baby (I haven't listened to it yet). My vote is for a mockingbird -- they can imitate so many things. But, a cat can make a pretty good crying baby noise too -- especially one in heat. I remember years ago going LOOKING for the baby that was crying outside my then house. I was sure one had been abandoned -- it was a cat yowling. Bizarre!

Which thing doesn't belong? How about that big sign: Welcome to Trader's World.

I guess that quiz is too hard?
The Trader's World sign is supposed to have just the big red horse statue, but as I went by on Sunday, there were two Canada geese standing on it. I had to take this picture out my car window, while driving by a cop, and trying not to look like I was taking a picture.

WOW Congratulations to Geoff!!! Wow!! That must feel really cool to finally see, feel, smell, photograph, etc. your very own book you authored! I can't wait to read it!

OMG what a cute little cousin your girls have! A little sweetie pie, as are your daughters, too!

Ohhh, I remember your sunflowers from last year! I'm so happy that you have your first one this year! Yay!

I would have guessed the two birds didn't belong on the sign. But it's cool how they are evenly spaced on each side of the horse.

Susan, I am so late. But you know I've been dealing with the effects of 6-8 inches of storm... tee hee

Has Geoff been holding his book and smelling it? This is such good news and I'll order one for my husband. He'll love it.

What doesn't belong there? I haven't a clue.

The sunflowers are stunning.
