Birds and Rats

Two topics that are close to my heart are the subject of today's post.

Laura sent me this link to a story on CNN about a rat adopting baby bunnies...Awwww.
Thanks, Laura!

There is a Great Horned Owl nest at Lake Isabella, that I went looking for on Saturday to no avail. I got in touch with a photographer who was there a few days ago during banding of the chicks, and he has directed me to which tree the owls are in. They should be "branching" soon, so if you go, they may even be on the ground. The owls are in a blue can in a tree that you can see if you pull straight into the parking lot just in front of the play equipment.

My bluebirds are in love and I got a life bird today

"My" bluebirds have started a nest in the bluebird box.
Hooray!
Now if we can just get some eggs in there, get the eggs hatched without predation, get the nestlings fledged without predation or illness, we will be home free!
I also got to bird alone, as in ALL BY MYSELF, today.
I got a life bird today, too...Tree Swallows. How have I gone my whole life without seeing a tree swallow? No idea, but they were gorgeous. I couldn't get any photos because of their speed and the fact that they were skimming the middle of Lake Isabella and I was on the shore.
The male was the most incredible iridescent blue/green, like a peacock.

Mmmm...chocolate

I don't know if talking with and getting to know Miss Laura from New Jersey has me noticing all things BUNNY, or if it's just close to Easter, but I wanted to share this pic sent to Geoff from his friend Stu in Los Angeles:

Which end do YOU go for first?

Getting used to an "old" camera

I have been trying out my Dad's "old" Nikon. It uses film, but has some really cool electronic features.
(Most of which I know zilch about)

I got some nice shots...
weird how used to a digital I am...I have to WAIT to see the pictures?

My newest bumper sticker

...well, it's actually a window decal, but let's not split hairs.

It says, and I quote,
"Buckle Up. It makes it harder for the aliens to suck you out of your car."

This joins my other stickers:

1. For the Birds

2. Birdwatching Rocks

3. I brake for Charismatic Megafauna

Beauty itself is but the sensible image of the Infinite.

On the wings of love...
