We try to be good birders...but just can't help ourselves.

  1. And they wondered why I wandered away from the rest of the Flock during the Owl Prowl the following night ..

~Kathi, apologizing to Italian-American men everywhere

  2. I've already watched this a dozen times and still can't stop cackling like a fool!

(I feel like I should point out to KatDoc that she needn't apologize to all Italian-American men; only that particular NJ breed known as The Guido.)

Poor Lynne must be so sick of this story... I made her tell it to EVERYONE just because I loved her telling it so much.

Please, please make some kind of permanent link to this video so I can watch it easily when I'm having a bad day, OK?

  4. All,
did I do okay bleeping out the offensive word? It was tough, getting the sound effect right on the "F"...

  5. OMG-OMG!
I fall apart as soon as I hear the snickering! I just played it again for Art and he came unglued!
    You timed it perfectly Susan.

    Still cackling...

  6. You guys are hilarious! "How you doin?" Too funny. By the way, Ruby thought the screech owl sounds were FASCINATING!

  8. Another spurt of coffee on my laptop. You're killing me, Susan. That had to have been Kathi's voice saying, "We're not going to see any owls."

    What a hoot!

  9. Actually "We're not going to see any owls" was Susan. I was the voice saying "How YOU doin'?"

We never did see an owl, but we did have a Guido sighting at the sports bar. I missed the field marks and the vocalization, but others pointed him out to me.

  10. OMG - there are tears squirting out of my eyes! That was so funny!

Thank goodness I don't pee my pants when I laugh because I would have had to leave work this morning.....

  11. Birding is about fun and you ladies exemplify that in this video. Thanks so much for a good laugh! You actually had a better chance of attracting a hyena with all the hysterics rather than a shy Screech owl. Let me know when you’re ready for Africa I’ll gladly be your guide!

  12. OMG OMG OMG--you guys kill me. The worst part? We had almost the exact same conversation on Saturday night during the owl prowl, and we STILL didn't see any owls! All we did was laugh and giggle and squirm!

God, I'm laughing so hard right now!

  14. LMAO as I listened to this. I usually don't comment on blogposts that are 2 years old, but this is timeless really.

By the way, I got to your blogsite via Julie Z/Facebook Please don't make me type her whole name. You know who Julie Z is. There is only one Julie Z.

    Love your blog.

  15. This is priceless. I have dim memories of Guidos in Connecticut. They are in terribly short supply in Appalachian Ohio. We have people who say "How ya doin'?" and "What the f- you lookin' at," but not with the same cachet. I love this!
