Speaking of swallows:
I managed to get over to RAPTOR to drop off a butt-load of perches I had left in my car. As I was pulling out of the driveway, I saw this bird:
Well, hello there, little Northern Rough-Winged Swallow. What are you up to?
Oooo....gathering sticks and mud?
A-ha. Building a nest under the covered bridge? Good choice.
And back out again.
I watched them do this over and over again. Birds are nothing if not industrious.
These holes are old drainage thingies, and I guess the birds know what they are doing. Let's hope Mill Creek doesn't flood again any time soon. The nest site is about 5 feet above the water.
Take a break, dude. You've earned it.
Neat swallow pix! Isn't it just the best thing to sit quiet and watch birds live their lives?
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you feel better. You have to mend your tomach before your BIG WEEKEND.
Sorry you've caught a bug! Better the birds get 'em (and eat 'em).
ReplyDeleteThe bracelet and earrings arrived! I love them! So very cute. I will post pictures tomorrow. Thank you!
Here's hoping neither you or the swallow gets washed out. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteVERY rude of your insides not to invite you - BAD insides. Hope your outsides are feeling more human soon.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better by now! Cool swallow pics!
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures. One of my favorite things to do is to watch swallows build nests. They are so busy when doing this.
ReplyDeleteI agree! They need a break. I saw swallows constructing a nest for a while and they wore me out. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better, Susan. Big weekend coming up :o)
Nice NRWS series! Hey, feel better quick - we're gonna bird our A$$E$ off this weekend!
ReplyDeleteSee you there,
